GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Clay County man has pleaded guilty to multiple counts in a child sex case.
Matthew Covey, 28, pleaded guilty on Friday to seven counts of attempted capital sexual battery and two counts of lewd or lascivious molestation. Covey was sentenced to 30 years in prison followed by a lifetime of sex offender probation.
Covey pleaded guilty to molesting a boy and girl under the age of 10. The abuse happened between 2009 and 2010. The little girl told her pediatrician and mother that Covey had inappropriately touched her.
As part of his sentence, Covey was designated a sexual predator.
