CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- A Middleburg woman was arrested and accused of shooting and killing her neighbor's dog.

The Clay County Sheriff's Office was called to a home on Wheat Court in Middleburg on Saturday night. They found a dog had been shot on its left side.

According to a CCSO report, Emily Juanita Harrell, 44, told them she used a rifle to shoot the dog because it had threatened her son while he was trying to feed their own dogs.

She said it happened in her yard but police say the dog was in its own yard at the time.

She's charged with torturing an animal with the intent to cause intense pain.
