JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Duval County Public Schools established a website to help children and parents deal with the aftermath of the Connecticut elementary school shooting.
Police say 26 were killed when a gunman opened fire at the school on Friday. The dead include 20 students.

"It's a horrible task to try to explain to a child what has happened, especially since it’s not understandable to us as adults. You will be needed by your children now more than ever," Superintendent of Schools Dr. Nikolai Vitti said in a statement.

The webpage has important links on how to deal with the crisis, talk to your children about violence, and death.

Dr. Vitti stresses if your child needs additional resources on how to cope with the most recent disaster to call the District Crisis hotline at (904) 390-2535 or an administrator at your school.
