BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- People who live within two miles of Lawtey Elementary received a Code Red phone call Monday afternoon.
"I was pretty shocked because this is a small community and we look out for one another," said concerned mother, Marla Mosley.
She didn't get a phone call, but her daughter's day care did. "Since than I have actually thought about home school because I think this is just scary," she said.
Code Red is the latest and quickest way officials in Bradford are releasing important information. "It basically reverses 9-1-1 calls," said Captain Brad Smith.
But you have to register your home, cell or business numbers to get a phone call. "In getting information out as quickly as possible, this is the perfect type of system to use," said Smith.
"How would I have known because my daughter goes to a private daycare. So I think it's a very good thing," said Mosley.
