JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The River City Science Academy will be running in a 5K to raise money to support those in need in Haiti.

According to the school, students in the Community Service's Club will raise money to help fund a drinking well with clean water in Haiti. The school is helping an organization  called Charity Water that provides clean water to Third-World countries.

A 10th-grader who is participating in this event said she is giving up her free time to raise money for everyone in Haiti.

"When we ourselves have so much and we have someone taking care of us, it is our duty to help the ones who cannot help themselves," Natalya Shevchik said.

This 5K run will be held at Fort George Island Cultural State Park, located on State Road A1A South in Jacksonville.
