JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Meteorological fall began Sunday for communities in the United States and all over the Northern Hemisphere.

The change of the season is marked by the typical cooling off of temperatures.

Meteorologists break the seasons down into groupings of three months based on the annual temperature cycle, according to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Meteorological fall includes the months of September, October and November.

Even though meteorological fall began Sunday, the First Alert Weather Team is forecasting temperatures to stay in the low to mid 90s most of the week.

The more widely accepted calendar change from summer to fall will take place on Sept. 22- the Autumnal Equinox.
