FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. -- A Fernandina Beach man was killed Saturday morning, in a one car crash, along
Barnwell Road near State Road 200.
Todd Hopkins, 50, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Hopkins veered off of Barnwell Road onto the grass shoulder and quickly overcorrected.
The overcorrection sent Hopkins’ Chevy Silverado flying across several travel lanes and into a ditch. The vehicle rolled over several times before coming to rest.
The trooper report states that alcohol was not to blame for the accident. Hopkins was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The investigation into the crash continues.
