JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Holiday travelers are trickling into the Jacksonville International Airport hoping their flight gets to their destination on time.

In the early morning hours, the coast was clear. After 7 a.m., Action News found at less than a dozen flights that had been delayed. All of them were minor delays ranging from 10 to 60 minutes.

Big city airports like Atlanta, Philadelphia, Chicago and New York are seeing the most delays because of inclement weather. On Tuesday night, more than 500 flights had been delayed.

More travel delays are expected, and the TSA is encouraging travelers to plan ahead.

"We encourage people to come early, check with their airline, make sure their flight is on time," said Ed Goodwin, Federal Security Director of TSA. "But we encourage passengers here at Jacksonville to be at the checkpoint an hour and a half before their departure time."

If you'd rather throw in the towel, and fly later, several airlines are waiving their change fee. Delta, JetBlue, United, American Airlines, and U.S. Airways are all making things a bit easier on this busy travel day.
