JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- You see it on your car...on your pets, maybe even your clothes. We're talking about that yellow stuff that's causing people to suffer. Pollen
"It gets caught in your eyelashes, goes in your eyes, and that's why people are getting symptoms," Dr. Sudhir Prabhu said.
Prabhu has seen an influx of patients in the last few weeks. He says the reason is simple. The milder is, the easier it is for trees to produce pollen and irritants.
"The Spring has come early. It's been too warm and trees are doing their own thing," he continued.
Alisha Jones is one of many sufferers we found today in Prabhu's office. She's had allergy issues since she was young, but it's been especially bad lately.
"It's been a nightmare. I can barely sleep," she said.
Sneezing, coughing and nose blowing are a clear sign you have a problem. Prabhu says it's the body's way of trying to rid itself of foreign particulars. Before it gets to that point, you can keep the windows in your car rolled up, brush your pets outside before they come in, and wash your hair at night so you don't transfer pollen to your pillow.
You should also stay inside during the early and late hours if possible, until rain clears some of this stuff out.
Jones says if your symptoms get unbearable - seek help.
"Go see an allergist, please, because it's worth it to get that relied and try to get some sleep," she advised.
Doctors say you know it's time to come in when over the counter medicines no longer work for you.
