ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- The newly approved laws will go into effect early next year and could impact owners who take their pets into public.
Under the new rules, pet owners who violate St. Johns County regulations will be fined $75 for the first offense. An offense could stretch anywhere from not cleaning up after the animal to letting it roam freely, without any control.
Owners with animals deemed to be aggressive now must carry a $100,000 liability insurance policy, have the pet attend obedience school, and wear a muzzle if outdoors.
