STARKE, Fla. -- Some 500 students at Starke Elementary are going back to school -- for the second time this year.

High levels of mold found in a few classrooms on desks, tables and elsewhere forced the school to close. Kids will be bussed or dropped off at Starke starting Tuesday morning at 6:55, but they will be sent to one of four alternative schools depending on grade. They will take classes at Lawtey Elementary, Southside Elementary, Sante Fe Community College and the Bradford County district offices.

Students will maintain their regular bus stops. They'll also be dropped off there or parents can pick them up at Starke at 2:15 p.m. Buses will begin to leave 10 minutes earlier starting Wednesday.

Air quality reports obtained by Action News show the mold was three times that of normal levels. There were no reports of health concerns.

The district is encouraging students zoned for other elementary school that go to Starke to go to the school nearest home.
