A cluster of thunderstorms is near the Lesser Antilles & is at the tail end of an upper level trough of low pressure.  Little or no development is likely thanks to a good deal of mid & upper level wind shear.

The NHC has declared a "new" latest hurricane to strike the U.S. coastline.  The latest is hurricane "Kate" -- a Thanksgving week hurricane that hit the Fl. Panhandle the week of Thanksgiving, 1985.  "Kate" subplanted a Dec. 1st, 1925 tropical storm (S. Fl.) that -- after re-analysis -- was found to have tropical storm winds vs. hurricane foce winds.  Click here for the PDG document, courtesty the NHC.
