JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Brandon describes the pain from his gunshot wound the best way a 13-year-old can.
"It felt like a paintball gun, and when I looked down to see what it was I had two holes in my leg," he said.
Brandon is home nursing his wounds as police continue to search for the suspects that he says shot at him. He says at least two men chased him and his friends down the 8600 block of Lem Turner Boulevard for half a mile, then opened fire.
"He said, 'hey, hey boy, come here and then all of us looked back and that's when they started shooting and we started running," said Brandon.
A second teen who didn't want to reveal his identity was also grazed by a bullet. A third teen, Garrett Ward, ran behind the Liquor Mart and called for help.
"I didn't know what to think at the moment I was in shock," he said.
Brandon says he was also in shock and in severe pain, but his instincts helped him escape.
"I was just trying to survive," he said.
The teens say they feel blessed to be alive but concerned that the shooters are still out there.
"It worried me a little bit because they could do it to somebody else," said Brandon.
Police describe both suspects as black males who were wearing tan shorts and white shirts.
