ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla.-- Guthrie Anderson has been waking up to this peaceful view of the Atlantic Ocean his entire life.
It's a calm that's kept his family here for generations, that is until the racket next door moved in.
"We've had an awful lot of construction," he said.
Just an arm's length away from his home, is another home that's under constant renovation. He said he's happy the area is kept so nicely, but it would be nice to have some peace and quiet on the weekends.
"It's just not the old private country home we used to have," he said.
That's why Mayor Pro-Tem Maria Mark is working to pass an ordinance that would silence contractors on Sundays.
The proposed ordinance would also prohibit commercial lawn mowing services before 9 a.m. all weekend.
But more time for Anderson to sleep in means less time for contractors to do business.
"I mean we're just trying to make a living, you know," said contractor John Ingham.
The ordinance goes before the Atlantic Beach City Council for vote on Nov. 25.
