JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla.-- Three months after Iesha Mann was shot while walking her dog, left paralyzed from the waist down, she is on her way to recovery.
"I never would have thought I would overcome this but it shows me a lot about myself that I can overcome anything," she said.
The young mother was caught in the crossfire of a shootout at Jacksonville Beach.
Now the three people accused of hurting her have been replaced by those she calls three guardian angels. Michelle Jackson, Tiwuana Robinson, and Jennifer Weeks had never met Mann, but knew they had to do something to help after hearing her story.
"We realize that this could have been anyone's sister, daughter, mother, anyone so we just wanted to do something to help," said Michelle Jackson.
"She blows my mind, her positive outlook on things," said Robinson.
Together, the group of co-workers is raising money to help Mann pay for her seemingly endless hospital bills.
They've teamed up and put together a variety show where they hope to raise tens of thousands of dollars.
"In addition to raising money, I just want everyone to have a good time," said Weeks.
In a short period of time, these three strangers have become family to Mann.
"They've gone beyond to help me through this process and they don't even know me," she said. "I don't know how I can repay them."
She is just like another niece to me and I talk to her like I've known her forever.
Tickets to the event will be sold at the door for $20. The fundraiser kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police.
