MIDDLEBURG, Fla. -- It was the kind of flood Middleburg hasn't seen in about 100 years. Houses along Black Creek nearly disappeared under water.
"The floors were ruined. The walls were ruined. Anything that was on the floor has already started to grow mold on it," said homeowner, Carri Safford.
But yards that were swallowed just days ago is now overflowing with the kindness of strangers. "We ripped up carpet, ripped down drywall, sheet rock, put it all out," said volunteer, Scott Revels.
Volunteers with Disaster Relief and Disaster Training stripped this entire basement removing materials that were still drenched from the flood.
"They've done in the past hour what it would have taken me at least a week or maybe two," said Safford.
"It's coming together as neighbors helping neighbors," said Matt McGraw with DRADT.
500 homes were damaged in some way when Black Creek crested at 25.11 feet. And these volunteers will spend the next week helping as many families as they can.
"I've never met any of the people that are here right now and for them to come in and help total strangers is wonderful," said Safford.
It's an out pouring of service for families who are still drying-out and devastated from near record floods.
