ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Friends and family gathered to say goodbye to a teenager from St. Johns County who was killed.
From a distance, the emotions of the high school students are hard to see.Up close, they're in pain and leaning on each other, as they remember Ryan Ford. His grandmother is devastated. "It's been just awful. He was a good boy," said grandmother Joyce Moll.
Ford was killed while at a bonfire last Friday night. Police say two men beat him up. They have been arrested. Ford's grandmother can't understand why it would happen but she says the outpouring of support tells his story. "It makes me feel good to know, it tells you right here, what people thought of him," said Moll.
She watched ford's friends leaves messages on his truck. For some of those friends, the pain is still raw. Keith Brown couldn't even go inside. He knows how hard it is to lose a loved one. "I lost my parents 14 months apart," said Keith Brown. "Nothing people can say or do will make it better. Time will make it feel better."
Ford's grandmother just hopes her family will get some closure. "I hope justice is served," said Moll.
Ford will be laid to rest Thursday at 11 am at Anastasia Baptist Church in St. Augustine
