JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One city councilman has an idea to run past you.  Matt Schellenberg is proposing the creation of an advisory council made up of some of the city's movers and shakers.

Schellenberg says he got the idea from reading the Financial News, bringing the heads of local agencies together to offer city leaders a little extra insight.

"All of them are very busy," said Schellenberg.  "All of them have great ideas.  But working together I think that they can even bring us back to where we need to be.  And bring us further than we need to be."

He's talking about the people who run JEA, JAA, JTA, the school board and local universities, many of whom are new to their jobs.

"This gives everybody a chance to get to know one another and how we can also help one another make Jacksonville a better place," said Schellenberg.

He says this so-called Council of Leaders would meet periodically to discuss city issues with Mayor Brown, and perhaps offer some solutions. "I don't want it to be a political organization but I want him to bring all these people together."

The idea will be put in front of the City Council at Tuesday evening's meeting.  It starts at 5pm at City Hall.
