INTERLACHEN, Fla.-- Cathleen Bruno catches the bus to school at the intersection of Marion and Fowler every weekday morning, but she says the few days she's been forced to keep her guard up.
"I feel afraid to come out my own house and walk to my bus stop thats just right there," she said.
Earlier this week, her 16-year-old classmate who lives just three doors down contacted police about a man and an old red pickup truck offered her a ride. When she refused and retreated to her home she claims he knocked on her door and offered her a ride again.
Bruno and her sister Sheila said they've seen the same pick up truck described in the police report wandering around their neighborhood.
"He was going really slow down the road and it's like that's kind of suspicious," said Shiela.
The Brunos are now taking extra precaution.
"My older brother he said he'll come and look after me until the bus comes and picks me up," said Bruno.
Putnam County schools this morning told local parents to do the same. Action News obtained this message from the superintendent:
"As you take your children to the bus stop, if you allow them to walk, that you yourself pay attention and call us with any concerns that you have."
The sheriff's office is sending extra patrols to the area but has yet to find any evidence leading them to the red pickup.
