JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An "armed career criminal" will spend at least 15 years behind bars.

A federal jury found Willie Lee Daniels, 39, guilty of possession of a firearm by a felon. The Jacksonville man got into an argument with his girlfriend in October of 2009. Neighbors called police when she yelled for help. Police from the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrived and he ran off, tossing the gun behind a building.

Because of his previous criminal history, Daniels was labeled as a career criminal. The maximum penalty for the crime is life in jail.
