GLEN ST MARY, Fla. -- A 14-year-old girl is dead after a single-car crash in Baker County over the weekend. Two other teens in the vehicle at the time suffered injuries.
And now one friend may be charged for the death of another.
Three friends were riding together in a truck on County Road 139 in Baker County when police say a terrible crash forever changed their lives.
Jordan Sommise, 14, died after being ejected. Passenger Cory Craig, 17, is fighting for his life in the hospital. The driver, Austin "Gage" Kight, 17,was released from the hospital and back home.
"I was really, really concerned," said friend Joey Taylor.
Taylor grew up with Craig -- a guy who he says loves sports and motor biking. Now, he says his friend may never walk again.
"As of now he's paralyzed from the waist down," he said. "His left leg, they're watching it over the next three or four days because the blood's not pumping through."
John Ryan spent all Sunday over at Kight's house and says Kight is struggling to cope with the loss of one friend and the tragic injuries of the other.
"It's hard for him," Ryan said. "The only thing he kept asking is 'how is Cory doing, when can I go see Cory.' So for him, emotionally, he's damaged."
Police say charges are pending against Kight. It's a tough reality for friends of all of the teens involved.
"I think he should have a penalty but not really bad," said Taylor.
Sara Pettyjohn added, "Mistakes happen. Its all in God's hands. I don't think he had no intentions of hurting them. That wasn't his choice it just happened."
And Ryan says it isn't fair to put all the blame on Kight.
"It's not that he was being immature or selfish or irresponsible. It's just, stuff happens. It could have happened to anybody. It could have happened to me," he said.
All day lMonday kids have been visiting the crash site where a memorial to Sommise continues to grow. At this point her family isn't ready to talk with us.
