Child shot in foot after celebratory gunfire
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An 8-year-old boy is recovering after being hit by a stray bullet police believe came from someone firing a gun to celebrate the new year.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, they were called to the 4100 block of Riverplace Boulevard about 45 minutes after the new year in reference to an aggravated battery.
Units arrived on scene to find an 8-year-old boy with a bullet wound to his foot.
The boy was taken to UF & Shands Jacksonville with non-life threatening injuries.
There have been no arrests made in this case and the investigation is on-going.
