Clay County shooting leaves two men in serious condition
CLAY COUNTY, Fla. -- Two men are in serious condition after a double shooting in Orange Park. The Clay County Sheriff's Office says the men were standing outside the Blanding Place Apartments around 5:30 p.m. Sunday when a white sedan pulled up. Deputies say one of the men in the sedan then pulled out a hand gun and shot both of the victims. One victim was shot in the chest. The second victim was shot in the arm. Both victims were taken to the Orange Park Medical Center and are listed in serious condition.
Police say the female driver of the sedan, along with two male passengers and a two year old child drove away from the scene . Thanks to the help of witnesses, police were able to track them down at a nearby 7-11 gas station. The female driver was immediately taken into custody. The child was taken into protective custody.
The two passengers tried to run. One was caught and arrested. The second ran into his apartment at Blanding Place Apartments where negotiators were able tot talk him into surrendering. All three suspects are in custody and being questioned. Charges are pending.
