GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Clay County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of one of its own.

Authorities found Detention Deputy Brian Cason dead at his home in Jacksonville. The Sheriff's Office said there were no signs of foul play.

Coworkers became concerned when Cason didn't show up for his shift at work Wednesday night.

The medical examiner in Jacksonville will determine the cause of death.

He was married with adult children.

Cason was hired by the Clay County Sheriff's Office in July of 2012. His supervisors and coworkers describe him as a hard-working, helpful, quiet man. Prior to joining the CCSO, Cason worked for the Florida State Prison system.

Funeral arrangements have not been set.
