ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga.-- Time has not brought any more answers in the investigation of the mysterious death of Glynn County Commissioner Tom Sublett, but it has filled Sublett's empty seat on the commission.

Dale Provenzano will pick up where Sublett left off.

"Tom did a lot of good work while he was on the commission but we thought he was still going to be a part of the community," he said.

Sublett was slated to step down from his spot on the commission in 2013, Provenzano had already been elected months ago to take his place. The new commissioner said he'll be missing out on a lot of valuable advice Sublett could have offered.

"It would have been nice to be able to call Tom and say, 'hey, how did you deal with these folks?'" said Provenzano. "That's the part that I'll miss. A lot of the issues that he's already worked through, I won't have that historical knowledge of what's already been done."

And as his community continues to question how and why Sublett died in the waters of his own district, Provenzano has questions of his own, and concerns about taking a position where someone he knew was killed.

"We don't know all the details of what happened, we don't know why, who, what, where, this is nothing that we know so there is some doubt but once you get past that first week and that shock from that initial week life goes on and so will we," he said.

Provenzano will be sworn into office Thursday at 4 p.m. and get to work straight after during his first commission meeting.
