Jacksonville, FL, January 19, 2009, WAWS FOX30, WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJaxbroadcast television stations in the Jacksonville viewing areaannounced today that their current contracts with some local cableoperators will expire on January 31, 2009.
These companiesinclude Litestream and Mainstream Media all in the WAWS FOX30, WTEVCBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax Jacksonville viewing area.
SinceNovember 2008, WAWS FOX30, WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax, haveattempted to reach new and fair multi-year agreements with these cablecompanies for carriage of their broadcast signals without success.
Underthe guidelines of Federal regulations, local broadcasters, such as WAWSFOX30, WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax may negotiate with all cablecompanies to allow for the re-transmission of their broadcast signals.WAWS FOX30, WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax only want what we believeto be fair compensation for the quality programming we distribute andthat Litestream and Mainstream Media re-sells to their customers. WAWSFOX30, WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax have completed successfulnegotiations with all of the Satellite and Telco providers andvirtually all of the cable operators in the Jacksonville viewing area.
Customersof these cable systems may no longer receive WAWS FOX30, WTEV CBS47 andWAWS-DT2 MyTVJax Jacksonville’s signals when their contracts expire onJanuary 31, 2009. This means viewers will not be able to view FOXNetwork programming including such hits as American Idol, House andsports programming like the Daytona 500. Also, our popular FOX30 Newsand all the popular My Network TV programming will not be available.CBS Network programming including such hits as CSI, Survivor, TheMentalist and our popular CBS47 News will also not be available.
WAWSFOX30, WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax are aware of this issue and areworking to resolve it with the individual cable companies. If yousubscribe to one of the above cable providers and you lose WAWS FOX30,WTEV CBS47 and WAWS-DT2 MyTVJax service beginning February 1st, pleasecontact your cable company and let them know you want them to carry oursignals.
Viewers can receive WAWS FOX30, WTEV CBS47 andWAWS-DT2 MyTVJax through alternate means, including free over the airwith an antenna, or switching to a satellite or telco service, such asDish Network, DirecTV, Verizon Fios or AT&T U-Verse.
