JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A spokesperson for the Florida Department of Children and Families said Charity Chatman told case workers during a supervised visit that she had gifts in her car for her daughter.

Seconds later, 6-year-old Onnika Fisher was gone. A few hours later, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement issued a statewide Amber Alert.

A spokesperson for DCF told Action News there are dozens of supervised visits between moms and dads in the area and a parent taking their child is rare.

John Harrell told Action News Mark Spain the little girl’s biological father lives in Florida but not Jacksonville.

Harrell said the father is cooperating with authorities and has been very helpful.

Police said there is no known history of violence against her daughter.

There's no official word on whether Chatman has other children, but she did lose custody at about the same time a judge issued an injunction for protection against repeat violence in late November.
