Davis Cup coming to Jacksonville

Go Pro Tennis owner Nils Leonard is a professional racket stringer. And when the Davis cup is in town next weekend, Leonard will get the opportunity to show off his expertise for the Brazil team. "Given the opportunity to showcase our talents on a national or international stage is going to be great," says Leonard.

That's what has the city's Executive Director of Sports and Entertainment Alan Verlander all fired up. "The fact that we can host it here in Jacksonville and be apart of the global event is really exciting," says Verlander.

Verlander says ticket sales are going very well. People from across the country are expected to flood into Jacksonville for the event. "It's going to be a big economic impact. Obviously you bring in that many people from 36 different states. They're staying in hotels, eating at restaurants do the economic impact of this event monetarily in Jacksonville will be big," he says.

And put tennis front and center in Duval county. Something Leonard has been waiting for since he opened his business 5 years ago. "Very excited. One of the first times were having professional tennis come to Jacksonville. Good for our city, good for our fans tennis fans," says Leonard.

The Davis cup will be in Jacksonville at the Veterans Memorial Arena February 1st-3rd.
