Delta flight slides off runway at NAS Jax
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Delta flight slid off the runway at NAS Jacksonville Saturday evening, according to a Public Affairs official with NAS Jacksonville.
One hundred and sixty-seven passengers were on board the flight when it ran off the runway.
The plane was reportedly a Boeing 737 heading from Guantanamo Bay to NAS Jax. Its final destination was Norfolk.
Delta is making arrangements for the passengers who were on board the flight.
The Public Affairs official says that no one was hurt in the incident.
National Transportation Safety Board members are heading up the investigation.
Delta Air Lines Statement:
Delta charter flight 8957 (BOEING 737-800), being flown for the U.S. Military, left the runway upon landing at Jacksonville Naval Air Station. No injuries were reported and customers are being transported to Jacksonville International Airport where they have been accommodated on another aircraft to continue their travel. Delta is investigating the episode and apologizes for the inconvenience.
