ORANGE PARK, Fla.-- After three cold nights, no food, and no water, Dolly the Boston Terrier is back in the arms of her loving family after a car ripped through their home last week. Dolly, who was in the home at the time, darted away in fear.

Owner Elaine Davis says the loss of her house was nothing compared to the loss of Dolly.

"Stuff can be replaced, but people and animals you love can't be replaced so we're just glad that she's home," she said.

When almost all hope was lost, a neighbor decided to look in one last spot.

"He said, 'I'm going to go get my boots on and I'm going to go into those woods and I'm going to find her'," she told Action News.

And find her he did, in near perfect condition, despite the fact that she was found near an alligator.

Now rolling back on her own soil, Dolly may be the same dog, but she's taught her owners she's one tough pup.

"She has a fluffy bed, a fluffy comforter. This dog's had a fluffy life, you know, so I see her in a different light because she has survived the woods," said Davis.

Davis says she will be taking Dolly to the vet for a check-up and to get micro-chipped.
