Early bird avoids the extreme heat

It's one version of "hot yoga", perhaps. This is Jax Beach. But it would be even hotter later in the day. (Dawn Lopez)

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Temperatures soared over the weekend as expected. Jacksonville hit 92 degrees on Saturday and 95 on Sunday! Our average high is 91 degrees.

As we start the work week, we will continue to run above normal. The First Alert Weather Team is forecasting 94 degrees Monday and again on Tuesday. The heat index in the Jax Metro Area will be in the triple digits (100-105 degrees).

As the week progresses, however, temperatures will dip down...gradually...to near 90 degrees by the weekend. At the same time, thunderstorms will become more active in our neighborhoods.
