JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Our Kid Care crew headed to Emerald City Learning Center on Soutel Drive in Jacksonville because of what the state uncovered during the most recent inspection here.
Emerald City wound up with 10 violations...some of them very serious. Here's a look at a few:
-A ratio of 1 staff for 4 children is required. There was 1 staff for 5 children observed.
-The number of children transported exceeded the manufacturer's designated seating capacity.
-a live roach was seen in the kitchen by the microwave.
-and the outdoor play area was not clean, free from litter, nails, glass or other hazards.
Most of the violations were corrected during the inspection and the center got a little time to fix the others. Still, Emerald City Learning Center Missed The Mark.
Now to the centers that didn't have any problems. Those child care locations are:
Beverly Hills Development Center
Wayman Early Learning Academy Westside
Chappell @ Florida State College at Jacksonville Kent Campus
Al Furqan Academy. All of them are in Jacksonville.
They all had violation free inspections and can let everyone know they're On The Mark.
