JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Today marks two weeks since super storm Sandy severely damaged homes and companies up north. Florida Power & Light Co. says that more than 1,000 of its employees went to the Northeast to help those who lost their houses, businesses and power. FPL’s employees have been traveling from up north to head down south.

The employees of FPL are staying in Fayetteville, N.C. tonight. They will be on the road tomorrow headed for home right here in Florida. FPL says the company accomplished getting back power for about 50,000 residences and businesses in New Jersey.

FPL’s employees helped 11 utilities between New Jersey and Virginia get back power.

There are still about 125 employees trying to help residents regain electricity in their homes and companies, FPL said.
