JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- A local father is upset after he says a fellow classmate threatened to rape his daughter.

Michael Sanzone couldn't believe what his 11-year-old daughter was telling him. He says she was in math class at Crookshank Elementary on Friday when a fellow classmate made the threat. School leaders say they took it seriously and started an investigation.

"We take safety serious on all measures. A strict protocol is important for us," said Paul Abbatinozzi, director of school services. He says that's not conversation they want in any classroom. "We support Character Counts and appropriate conversation to happen in the classroom."

Sanzone says the school's principal told him the boy would be moved to a different class.

"He said they did what they thought was necessary," said Sanzone. But Sanzone wasn't happy with that.

We asked the district about Sanzone's story. We were told it couldn't get into specifics about the action that was taken. But Abbatinozzi insists policy was followed.

"The students discipline is consistent with the code of conduct," said Abbatinozzi.

It's not much comfort to one father, who says he's worried his daughter won't be able to concentrate on learning.

"She's still scared to go to school," said Sanzone.

DCF is also investigating the incident.
