JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Friends are mourning the loss of the man shot and killed Tuesday night at a Southside Walmart.

Brittany Dollison couldn't hold back tears when she learned her friend, 20-year-old Anthony Blake Bannister, was shot and killed.

Dollison went to church with Bannister and is his neighbor. "Last night we heard them yelling someone got shot. And I heard the name Blake so I was like no it's not Anthony."

According to police, Bannister was in the passenger seat of a parked car at the Walmart parking lot on Beach Boulevard near Southside Boulevard.

Police tell Action News that a man armed with a gun got into the car and shot Bannister during a dispute. Police believe that dispute may have centered around drugs.

The driver raced Bannister to a Kangaroo gas station a few blocks away. The driver told police he feared for his own life and fled the scene while dialing for help. But Bannister didn't make it.

Shocking news for Dollison who can't believe one of her oldest friends won't be around anymore to brighten her day.

"It's hard to take in because he was hilarious, he was always there for people and just always made people laugh," said Dollison.

Police have not made an arrest and are searching for the suspect.
