JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Good Samaritan was killed early Sunday morning while trying to help the driver whose car broke down on the Buckman Bridge.

The Florida Highway Patrol says the driver of a Toyota Corolla pulled over to help a woman in a Honda that became disabled in the northbound lanes of the bridge.

Both cars had their emergency lights flashing.

A white Ford F-150 pickup truck veered off the road and slammed into the rear of the Toyota, killing 21-year-old Lyanne Marie Vera.

The crash closed the I-295 northbound for more than three hours.

The FHP says charges are pending against Paul Fort, 41, of Orange Park.
