Governor to make announcement at Jaxport

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Governor Rick Scott will be holding a press conference at Jaxport cruise terminal at 2:30 p.m.

He is expected to make an important announcement at that time; however, his office is not letting on to what it might be about.

But the Jacksonville division of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers tweeted from their @jaxstrong account that they will also be tweeting from Jaxport today about an announcement regarding Mile Point.

Mile Point is the shoreline approximately 5,000 feet long located along the north shore of the St. Johns River and east of the Intracoastal. The problem at Mile Point is the currents are too strong, so ships can only enter and leave the city at certain times of the day.
