High gas prices hurt summer vacations
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- It's going to cost you more to take that family vacation this summer. The reason? Gas prices.
In March 2007, jet fuel cost $1.85 a gallon. Now it's nearly double the price at $3.48. Every dollar per gallon increase in jet fuel costs an airline an extra $60 million dollars a year. That might mean fewer folks flying this summer.
With prices at the pump approaching $4.00 it's going to be hard to justify piling into the car. But we're lucky. The beach is in our backyard. And with the real estate market in a slump there are a lot of affordable beach homes for rent.
You can stay close without giving up your vacation -a solution that helps keep your family and your back account happy.
