JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- At 96 degrees on Wednesday, Jacksonville set a new high temperature for the year (so far). It was just short of the record of 99 degrees (1998).
Before the day is through on Thursday, another mid-90s sizzler will go in the books. The record high for June 13th is 100 degrees, by the way, last set in 1977.
We gave you the First Alert on this midweek "heat wave" and on the front to follow.
A rare June cold front arrives on Friday! Temperatures will still be warm this weekend (but not stifling hot). In fact, overnight temperatures in the Metro Area and inland will fall into the 60s!
The front moves into Southeast Georgia early Friday...potentially with gusty winds and thunderstorms. The best chance for thunderstorms in Jacksonville and areas south of Jax will be Friday afternoon/evening.
Beyond that, expect clearing skies and a more pleasant weekend.Download the new First Alert iPad app
