JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A local family has no where to live after a massive fire broke out in their home in the Saint Nicholas area.
Neighbors reported hearing four different explosions when the fire started around 2 p.m.
In a home video obtained by Action News, you can see fire and smoke billowing from the home located on the 5000 block of Bridgewater Circle.
It was taken by Naum Antunez’s relative, both were inside when they smelled something burning.
"When we checked from the back we saw a lot of smoke coming so we saw the fire in the house and we came out," said Naum Antunez, resident.
According to the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department the fire began under a covered car port which quickly destroyed the attic and parts of the left side of the home.
"The wind did complicate things a little bit that caused the fire to kick up quite a bit," said Andy White, JFRD.
Six people were inside the house. Everyone managed to escape safely but a 48 year-old woman and a seven year-old girl were transported to the hospital.
According to one witness they're fortunate to be alive.
"God was looking over them on that one," said Robert Klein, neighbor.
The state fire marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
The Red Cross is assisting the family with lodging until they find a permanent place to live.
