JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville Naval Air Station was the Navy winner of the 2013 Commander, Navy Installations Command Installation Excellence Award worldwide for outstanding efforts in shore installation management.
Vice Adm. William French, Commander of Navy Installations Command, announced the award today. CNIC is comprised of 11 regions and 72 bases worldwide.
According to a news release, Jacksonville displayed a well-defined understanding of CNIC and Office of the Secretary of Defense strategic goals and fiscal austerity in execution of its mission.
Jacksonville NAS Commanding Officer Capt. Bob Sanders said, "I could not be more proud. ... I am very fortunate to be a part of this amazing organization."
The station's 'One Team, One Fight' relationship with all tenant commands targeted the best use of available resources while focusing on energy innovation and management actions that increase productivity. Its personnel also exceeded the Chief of Naval Personnel mandated 75% mishap reduction goal.
Navy Region Southeast Commander Rear Adm. Jack Scorby Jr. said the team had earned the recognition through initiative and hard work.
"This year's competition and all nomination packages reflected the great accomplishments that CNIC installations made worldwide," said Scorby. "However, for the second year in a row, NAS Jacksonville distinguished itself and made the best use of its available resources to accomplish its assigned missions."
