JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man has been sentenced to six years in prison in an Internet child porn case.
Joaquin Manuel Marrero, 22, was sentenced Wednesday to six years in federal prison for receiving videos depicting child pornography over the Internet. He was also ordered to serve a 15-year term of supervised release after he gets out of prison, and he must register as sex offender.
According to court documents, a special agent with Homeland Security Investigations determined that a computer in Jacksonville was hosting child pornography on the Internet.
On March 22, officers executed a search warrant at Marrero's residence. Marrero and someone else were there. The agents seized, among other things, a laptop computer, a desktop computer, and a USB thumb drive. A forensic analysis revealed 246 videos, each depicting children being sexually abused. Marrero admitted that he downloaded these videos from the Internet.
The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
