JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Mike Mularkey is feeling better and back on his normal schedule after a Monday health scare that resulted in a trip to the hospital.

"I need to take care of my body better," said Mularkey. "It's the same thing I tell the players. I need to rest, need to eat better and hydrate more."

Mularkey said Monday was his first missed day of work in 30 years in the NFL. He wouldn't say the exact cause of his trip to Baptist Hospital Monday, but didn't deny that stress was involved.

"Remember, I don't talk about injuries," laughed Mularkey.

In football news, Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts has been cleared to practice today. The Jaguars will work him out in some isolated drills during Wednesday's practice and will know more about his status for Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins later in the week.

Shorts suffered a concussion against the Buffalo Bills and did not play last week against the New York Jets because he still had concussion-like symptoms despite passing the baseline test.

Maurice Jones-Drew is likely to miss another game this weekend, but the Jags will advance their star running back into the Phase II portion of their conditioning regimen.

The Jaguars still are not ready to make a decision on linebacker Daryl Smith's status for next week's game. Smith is eligible to play against the Patriots after being put on injured reserve earlier in the season with a groin injury.
