JACKSONVILLE, Fla.--The Jacksonville Jaguars played fantastic defense today and beat the Houston Texans for their second win of the season, 13-6.
The Jags took the opening kickoff and for the third straight week drove for a touchdown with Maurice Jones-Drew scoring on a one yard plunge. That was all the points the Jaguars would need as the defense played its best game of the season. Case Keenum really struggled for Houston, going just 18 of 34 for 169 yards and an interception. The Texans who now have lost nine in a row also rushed for just 77 yards on 21 carries.
Chad Henne had a good day for the Jags, going 23 of 32 for 239 yards. One week after calling out the coaching staff, Cecil Shorts hauled in 8 passes for 71 yards, but the star of the offense was Maurice Jones-Drew who rushed for a season high 84 yards and caught 6 more for 60 yards.
Josh Scobee added a 53 yard field goal and Paul Posluszny had a team high 14 tackles.
The Jaguars are now (2-1) in the division and have won two straight on the road for the first time in 5 years.
