JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Three local hospitals are teaming up to improve your health care.

Baptist Health, Flagler Health, and Southeast Georgia Health System announced their collaboration today.

The hospital leaders said the plan has been in the works for about five years.

They said the new affiliation means better patient care.

"We're a little hesitant to say this is precisely what we're going to do. Obviously we've been thinking about what aspect of organizations can be done in concert with each other that will effect savings and allow us to better serve patients and families," said Hugh Greene, President and CEO of Baptist Health of Northeast Florida.

The hospital leaders made it clear they are not merging, just working together.

They say the collaboration means the hospitals will share ideas and practices.
