JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Local Leaders are taking action to help some of Jacksonville's most at-risk kids.
Mayor Alvin Brown joined leaders at the Sixth Annual Urban Education Symposium Saturday at the Main Library in Downtown Jacksonville. This year's focus was geared toward faith based partnerships and partnerships serving young black males in Jacksonville.
"I think the church is the foundation of Jacksonville, of our community. So, having the church involved early on, working with young people and keeping them out of the criminal justice system is a very, very telling thing," says Mayor Alvin Brown.
The symposium was hosted by the Jacksonville Community Engagement Group.
