JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man was sent to jail for allegedly attacking an officer during a traffic stop.

Jermaine Bragg, 25, was pulled over near 19th and Main streets around 2 a.m. Monday. When the officer discovered Bragg did not have a valid driver's license, he asked him to step out, according to the report. That's when Bragg threw several punches at the officer who responded with similar force, striking the suspect in the face. Bragg ran off but was captured a few streets away hiding in a shed.

Bragg was taken to the hospital. He was absentee booked on charges of resisting arrest with violence, battery of a law enforcement officer, and the outstanding warrants for failing to pay traffic fines.
