JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is in police custody accused of having sex with people without telling them he was infected with HIV and the AIDS virus. At least two of those people were infected.

Taveres Newsome, 35, has been charged with criminal transmission of HIV.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says Newsome learned he had AIDS in 2008.

Police arrested him on New Year's Eve. Newsome told police he never had sex with one victim. He claimed the second victim knew of his medical condition.
