JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man was found guilty in a 2011 armed robbery of a Korean War veteran.
Quayshaun Heath, 21, was convicted Friday for his involvement in the 2011 armed robbery. He was found guilty on charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
In July 2011, Heath and Alfonza Alberta held up 78-year-old Clyde Tompkins. Tompkins, a Korean War veteran, was picking up his mail at his apartment complex when Heath and Alberta approached him at gunpoint. Heath took the victim's car keys and $12 in cash, and then took off in the Tompkins' car.
JSO spotted the stolen vehicle and arrested Heath and Alberta three hours after the robbery.
In November 2012, Alberta pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Heath has felony convictions for dealing in stolen property and giving false verification of ownership of pawned items. Heath now faces a mandatory 10 years to life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of February 11, 2013
