Man gets life for armed robbery
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Jacksonville man will spend life behind bars for an armed robbery last year.
Vontae Alston, 24, was sentenced to life in prison for a 2012 armed robbery. He was convicted last year on one count of armed robbery.
In June 2012, Alston and another person robbed a 20-year-old woman as she waited for her boyfriend outside a convenience store on Phillips Highway. Alston and the co-defendant used a gun to threaten the woman. The two men demanded her money and then took off.
